ANIMATION AND THE ARCHIVES SYMPOSIUM Transatlantic Rare and Subversive Animation Films FREE EVENT – 11th April at 12.15pm Manchester Metropolitan University LT 5, Geoffrey Manton Building, Oxford Road, Manchester, UK MMU Film and Media would like to welcome New York Film Archivist Dennis Nyback and North West Film Archive Manager Marion Hewitt to screen and discuss a programme of transatlantic animation from the archives. Dennis Nyback is an independent film archivist who curates feature length programs from his personal collection of rare short films. Last year he showed films in New York, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, as well as in Hamburg, Nuremberg, Bern, Amsterdam, and other cities across Europe. This is a rare glimpse for UK audiences to see and discuss subversive American archives from the 1930s, particularly for those interested in animation.
